Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair Guide
The 2017 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...Rethink! guide is now online at: https://tinyurl.com/RRRN-2017
The Springfield MRF Advisory Board has partnered with area newspapers to bring you the TENTH ANNUAL Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Guide!
In honor of Earth Day, the guide was inserted into the Hampshire Gazette, Greenfield Recorder, and Amherst Bulletin. It is currently inserted into newstand copies of the Shelburne Falls Independent, which you might still find in stores (I bought one this past weekend at McCusker's in Shelburne Falls.)
The guide features the "What Do I Do With...?" A-Z Disposal guide, which lists local and national resources to help you reuse, recycle, or properly dispose of hundreds of items. The guide also includes accurate, up to date information on recycling, composting, and hazardous waste disposal in your town and beyond.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection
As a resident of Charlemont you have access to at least six Household Hazardous Waste collection events each year.
· Pre-registration is required
· To see the complete list of collection event dates, times and locations, go to http://www.franklincountywastedistrict.org/HHWreciprocal.html
Bulky Items - Companies Offering Pickup & Disposal
If you have bulky items (mattresses, upholstered furniture, wood furniture, toilets, sinks, and carpet) that you are unable to transport to the Greenfield Transfer Station, or to the Franklin County Solid Waste Management District's May and October "Clean Sweep" events, there are local companies that you can hire to pick up and properly dispose of the items.
You will be contracting directly with the private hauler and will be responsible for paying any pickup and disposal fees that are charged. This is NOT a service provided by the Town of Charlemont. You are making a private arrangement with a private company to perform a service, and the Town does not control the fees that are charged.
This list is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all companies that may provide this service, and does not constitute any endorsement or recommendation by the Town of Charlemont. Companies are listed alphabetically.
