Construction Update Week of 10/25/2021: Sidewalk work will continue as well as some clean-up and topsoil work.
The town recently received notice that TriWire, the contractor who is building the town’s broadband network, has declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy as part of a planned sale. While this creates some uncertainty, we have been talking to TriWire and are doing all we can to make sure that the project keeps moving in a positive direction. We have been notified by TriWire that they plan on continuing work and finishing the broadband project in Charlemont. We have no reason to feel panicked by the notice at this time. We will be sure to update our residents if anything changes. We look forward to having town-wide broadband in Early 2022.
The town of Charlemont is a hilltown community of about 1,300 residents located along the Deerfield River and the scenic Mohawk Trail in northwestern Massachusetts.
Settled in 1744, Charlemont covers 26 square miles and is still home to working farms and cottage industries as well as many recreational opportunities from whitewater rafting to downhill skiing.
