The BOH has an important Public Health message for the residents of Charlemont -
Massachusetts Department of Public Health is reporting positive West Nile Virus infected mosquito samples taken in Greenfield.
Because positive samples were found in our area, the BOH recommends that - if you go outside - use precautions such as covering exposed skin and using mosquito repellent. In addition, we recommend avoiding prime mosquito hours at dawn, dusk and evening. West Nile virus can be a serious illness, particularly for the elderly, children and those with medical conditions. These simple precautions will reduce the risk of exposure and infection.

The town of Charlemont is a hilltown community of about 1,185 residents located along the Deerfield River and the scenic Mohawk Trail in northwestern Massachusetts.
Settled in 1744, Charlemont covers 26 square miles and is still home to working farms and cottage industries as well as many recreational opportunities from whitewater rafting to downhill skiing.
