The BOH has an important Public Health message for the residents of Charlemont -
Massachusetts Department of Public Health is reporting positive West Nile Virus infected mosquito samples taken in Greenfield.
Because positive samples were found in our area, the BOH recommends that - if you go outside - use precautions such as covering exposed skin and using mosquito repellent. In addition, we recommend avoiding prime mosquito hours at dawn, dusk and evening. West Nile virus can be a serious illness, particularly for the elderly, children and those with medical conditions. These simple precautions will reduce the risk of exposure and infection.
We are currently experiencing an issue with voicemail access if you are trying to reach one of our departments and need to leave a message please email the department and ask for a return phone call, making sure to leave a good call back number. Department emails listed on the website are current. Sorry for the inconvenience we are working to resolve the issue. (Our phone does ring and we can answer it during buisness hours the problem is with the voicemail system).
